Everyone has their own pickling solution and percentages, but the essentials are vinegar, sugar, and salt. You can add herbs, spices, and adjust percentages to anything that suits you. Water amount can vary especially with ingredients that naturally contains a lot of water such as cucumber or daikon. The percentages I use varies with the pickled subject and sometimes by taste. I personally like mine sweeter. Tip: I like to store a whole can of pickling solution in the fridge. This way you can pickle anything on the whim and also pour exactly the amount you needed.
